A photographer by the name of Michael Paul Smith uses an age-old special effects trick to make scale model cars look 1:1. The trick is easier than you think.

Have a look at his flickr feed to find out for yourselves. :)

Just look at the photos! :)

He has a finished product pic and a 'making of' pic that explains the trick. There's also extra info in the 'making of' pictures' descriptions.

I shared this over to the Photography blog for you. There's a bunch of cool stuff over there if you haven't seen it before.

That makes me feel like shit. I have a hard time taking good pictures of MY car, and I'm pretty good with a camera. Cars are a different beast to me, sun glare and all that jazz. wow.

The best tip is : best in the am or late evening. Use your flash even with full light, it'll help fill in. Use bracketing. Ultra wide lens can help with getting a lot of area and then it's just about cropping.

Yeah it's all about the lens for me. I need the ultra wide. Thanks for the help though.

Try borrowlenses.com or lensrentals.com if you don't have anywhere else to borrow. I've used the 10-24 Nikkor with my D7100. To buy it's about $800-ish.

The actual trick is that he has an amazing talent, kind of hard to copy that "trick"...

You can use numerous techniques when photographing cars....one thing that almost always helps is to take your pictures at either early morning or dusk.
